The Te Piringa – Faculty of Law – Student Events Society is a student-led organisation at the University of Waikato. We are the architects of student life within the Law School, dedicated to building a community that excels both academically and socially.
Our society operates under a formal Constitution to ensure transparency, integrity, and excellence in everything we do. We believe that law school should be more than just lectures and exams—it should be a place where lifelong professional networks and personal friendships are formed.
Inspired by the core values of Te Piringa, our goal is to foster a supportive environment. We aim to:
Bridge the Gap: Create networking opportunities between students and the legal profession.
Promote Inclusion: Ensure all law students, from LLB to PhD, feel at home within the Faculty.
Enrich Student Life: Deliver a diverse calendar of events ranging from high-stakes competitions to relaxed social mixers.
The Society is governed by an Executive Committee and driven by an Operational Committee of Appointed Officers. This structure ensures that every event is managed professionally and every student voice is heard.
The Executive: Responsible for the legal and financial integrity of the Society.
The Officers: Subject-matter experts who lead portfolios such as Marketing, Social Media, External Engagement, and Events.
The General Committee: Driven students who assist Officers in executing specific projects and initiatives.
As a member of this Society, you are part of a body that values Integrity, Professionalism, and Respect. We operate in accordance with University of Waikato standards and our own internal code of conduct to ensure that Te Piringa remains a prestigious and welcoming environment for all.
